Meet Hanan Rasheed: SEP’s Representative in Mexico
Posted on September 06 2026
At SEP, we believe that meaningful change begins with people who care deeply about their communities, their heritage, and the stories they carry with them.
We are delighted to welcome Hanan Rasheed as SEP’s newest retailer in Mexico — a Palestinian chef, cultural ambassador, and passionate advocate for sharing the beauty of Palestine through food, tradition, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
Hanan’s connection to Palestine has shaped much of her life and work. After leaving Palestine as a young girl and later building her life in the United States and Uruguay, she found a powerful way to stay connected to home: through food. Recreating the dishes, aromas, and memories of her childhood became a way of preserving her heritage and sharing it with others.
Over the years, Hanan has dedicated herself to introducing people to Palestinian culture through its cuisine and traditions. She founded My Healing Table, inspired by her belief that sitting together around a table can create understanding, connection, and dialogue. Her approach — which she has affectionately called “hummus diplomacy” — reflects a simple but powerful idea: sharing culture can bring people closer.
Today, Hanan is based in Mexico City, where she continues to share Palestinian cuisine and heritage. Her work has been featured in Mexican cultural and culinary events, including programs celebrating Palestinian food, memory, and identity. (GOOD FOOD MEXICO)
It was this lifelong commitment to Palestinian heritage that made Hanan’s connection with SEP feel so natural.
Why SEP?
For Hanan, representing SEP in Mexico is about much more than bringing beautiful products to a new market. She was drawn to SEP because of the meaningful story behind every piece: the opportunity to create dignified work for Palestinian refugee women while preserving the art of Palestinian embroidery and keeping an important part of our cultural heritage alive.
As Hanan puts it:
“I want to sincerely thank SEP for their elegant and beautifully crafted products, and especially for the meaningful mission behind them.”
She sees a natural connection between her own work and SEP’s mission. Just as she has spent decades using food to tell the story of Palestine, SEP uses embroidery, craftsmanship, and contemporary design to keep Palestinian stories and traditions alive.
And Mexico feels like the perfect place to continue that work.
Hanan was especially inspired by Mexico’s strong and loving community of supporters of Palestine, as well as the country’s deep appreciation for culture, craftsmanship, food, and storytelling. She hopes to create a bridge between the two cultures — introducing more people in Mexico to SEP’s artistry while sharing the stories of the women and communities behind each piece.
“I am honored to join hands with SEP and to help share not only your elegant products, but the stories, women, craftsmanship, and Palestinian spirit behind them.”
From the table to the thread
There is something beautiful about the connection between Hanan’s work and SEP’s.
For decades, Hanan has used the table as a place to preserve memory, celebrate Palestinian identity, and bring people together. At SEP, we believe in the same power of storytelling — only our stories are carried through thread, colour, pattern, and the hands of the artists who create each piece.
Both are ways of saying: this is who we are, this is where we come from, and this is a heritage worth sharing.
With Hanan joining the SEP family, we are excited to bring that story to Mexico and to build a new connection between Palestine and Mexico — one piece, one story, and one meaningful encounter at a time.
Welcome to SEP, Hanan. We are so happy to have you with us.
